Cameras Don't Let In Light

Call me a cynic, but I see the following as the two main motivations behind Martin's decision to televise the upcoming health care meeting with the premiers:

And Andrew Coyne thinks it's a great excuse to call an early election before any more juicy details of Adscam emerge.

This is as much about transparency as Adscam was about flying the flag. And when it happens, it'll be about as transparent as that layer of smog that has just returned to Toronto.
since they're going to be televized, we can now expect absolutely nothing to get done ... think back to all those constitutional conferences.

Also, I don't think the Libs would want to risk another election so soon. If they do it, they give Harper and his team yet another shot at a similar (if not the same) campaign and this time they won't make the same mistakes on kiddy porn or their responses (or lack there of) to the attack ads. Though, the Libs might want to call an election to see if they could knock off a couple dozen or so bloc members thus getting the Libs back up to a majority.
