Came across (by accident) the protests against the French headress ban in Toronto last week. Thought I'd share a couple of pictures.
I don't know the details of the politics behind the groups that organized the rally (
Daniel Pipes has taught me to take such groups with a grain of salt). But I basically support their efforts, because secularism is just theocracy without God, but just as indoctrinating. A society that failed to accomodate (or assimilate) immigrants and is forced to attack at the superficial aspects of religion is an unhealthy society. For Europe, years of taking in non-Western Muslim immigrants without providing them with a true understanding of fundamental Western values has finally come home to roost.
